Welcome to

We share your frustration with the overwhelming amount of unsolicited commercial EMail and telephone advertising that intrudes on our everyday lives in uncountable ways. We offer you a host of information and a smattering of anti-SPAM tools you can use to regain a foothold on your privacy and personal time. Most of the material you'll find here has been garnered from other sources. We also offer links to stop SPAM and telemarketers websites that share our goal of making it decreasingly profitable for the SPAM-spewing bottom-feeders of the telemarketing industry to continue with these violations of civility. These people are nothing more than amoral thieves who justify their crimes by pointing to their profits.

If you want to recover the precious moments of your life that these people steal from us every day, if you want to do something to stop the SPAM that clogs your EMail program, if you want to stop the telemarketers from plaguing your life with unsolicited phone calls, you are among friends here. Putting a stop to SPAM and telemarketers is in everyone's best interest. SPAM kills business productivity. SPAM clogs the Internet. SPAM is a frequent vehicle for fraud. Telemarketers make evening hours unbearable. You cannot stop all SPAM and telemarketers by yourself, but with a little perseverence you can stop SPAM and telemarketers from many of their worst offences.

Stop SPAM News

There is news on the anti-SPAM wars. The U.S. Congress is considering five or six separate bills trying to stop SPAM. The only one that would actually be effective is Senate Bill #SB1231 sponsored by Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-NC) which will create a National Do-Not-SPAM registry similar to the new National Do-Not-Call Registry and would require all Unsolicited Commercial EMail (ie. "UCE") to carry a label in the Subject field. The penalties are as high as $5000.00 per violation. Be sure to contact your Senators and Congressman and ask them to support SB1231. The other bills are either too weak or force the consumer to send an "opt-out" request to each SPAMmer before they could be sued. We have the lawmakers' attention - now lets show them the path to righteousness. And this time, don't procrastinate. Do it!

Stop Telemarketers News

The latest news I have on telemarketers is that the telemarketing industry is biding its time. Many companies are simply trying desparately to survive until their lawsuits against the FTC's Do-Not-Call registry is heard. For more information, see our Stop Telemarketers page.

Prevent Computer Virus Infections

Here we go again! The latest virus (technically speaking, its really a "worm") has caused a stream of headaches for computer users and systems administrators. The new strain, dubbed "Sasser", spreads via EMail by attacking the ubiquitous Microsoft Outlook EMail programs. A German teenager has confessed to creating Sasser and he is facing criminal prosecution, but this latest event just reinforces the advice I've been giving for over 2 years now. If you use Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express you are vulnerable to a virus. It is vital that you buy some good anti-virus software and keep it updated. The $40.00 it will cost is peanuts compared with the damage that can be done to your data if you leave yourself unprotected. See our new stop computer virus information page.

Identity Theft in Cyberspace

The Internet is giving new opportunities to thieves, even though the crime is as old as the charge card. See our new page on Identity Theft. Learn how to avoid becoming a victim, and the first steps to take if your identity has been stolen.

Personal Privacy News

The latest upheaval in personal privacy is the inclsion of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags in packaging for consumer goods and in library books. The tags allow products to be scanned remotely using radio waves instead of laser-beams. Privacy advocates fear this could be abused by businesses and governments.
